eyub sultan

Who is Eyub Sultan?

    The Eyub Sultan Mosque

His full name name is;
Khalid bin Zeyd abu Eyyub al-Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him). But He is mostly known as Eyub Sultan in Turkey since he was respected like Sultans;(rulers) of the Country. He is one of the respected companions of the Last Prophet Mohammad (sallallahu aleyhi vesellem; peace be upon him) sent by   the Lord of the Worlds; Allah.

He is from the city of Madina in Arabia. Khalid is his real name but he also takes his father’s name Zeyd and his eldest son’s name Eyyub since it is a tradition in Arab customs for the sons to be called after their father’s or their own eldest son’s name.

The connecting words bin and abu mean the son of and the father of respectively in Arabic. As for the word al Ansari means from the Helpers. So his name would render into the following form; Khalid, the son of Zeyd, the father of Eyyub, from the Helpers. He was among those people of Madina who aggreed upon helping the Prophet Mohammad (sallallahu aleyhi vesellem) for his cause when immigrating from Mecca with his followers to the city of Madina, a secure place which would protect them from the ferocious attacks of the unbelievers. Now on we may call him shortly Abu Eyyub (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) along with the expession within the brackets.  It is a very common tradition of muslims attributing respectful reputations and greeting words when mentioned the names of their honorable personages in İslam such as prophets’ names and their companions’ names.

Abu Eyyub (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) comes from the Prophet Mohammad’s (sallallahu aleyhi vesellem; peace be upon him) mother’s lineage. His mother’s name is Hind. He entered Islam with his wife Ummu Eyyub (Mother of Eyyub) when the Prophet was still in Mecca where Kâbe; “the House of Allah, so called out of respect” was abused by the idolaters. Abu Eyyub (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) was one of the people in Madina who first accepted İslam. His whole family members and his relatives, friends have become muslims by his genuine efforts.

The Holy Immigration

The Last Prophet Mohammad(sallallahu aleyhi vesellem; peace be upon him)set off the road from Mecca to Madina in company of his best friend Abu Bakr (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) in the year of 622 after Jesus(aleyhisselam; peace be upon him). The news of this journey called Immigration in İslamic history, broke out in the city of Madina. In muslim world the month of the year in which the holy immigration took place is considered as the beginning of the muslim calendar which is based on the lunar rotation.

The people were very much excited. They were on the watch sitting at the main roads looking forward for the holy immigrants to come. Everybody was urging to be the honored one to host the Last Prophet Mohammad(sallallahu aleyhi vesellem; peace be upon him)in his house and to serve Him.  Abu Eyyub (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) and his wife were among those people awaiting with excitement. Finally the expected guests have arrived. The muslims of Madina went out to meet him on the road. They had prepared the best places in their homes to be able to offer their Holy Guest what He deserves. The Last Prophet Mohammad (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him)  did not want to refuse any of them but he had to chose eventually one of them.

The Holy Guest choosing his Host

The Last Prophet Mohammad (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) set free his camel called Kusva to see where it will stop. He used to give names to some of his belongings or his animals as if he wanted to personify them since he cared much for every living creatures or things out of his respect for the creation of Allah. Even at war he forbade the muslim warriors to burn the trees or destroy the buildings especially the worshipping places. He also forbade attacking women, children and elderly people.

Then, Kusva went it’s way. The Last Prophet Mohammad (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) said that he would be the guest of the house where it stopped. Some people were trying to distract the camel’s attention by pulling it’s collar in order to direct it towards their own house. But Kusva kept going on until finally it came to the front door of the house of Abu Eyyub (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) and kneeled down.

A Holy Guest,  a Holy Host!

That is how The Last Prophet Mohammad (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) settled in Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him)’s house. Now we choose to proceed on with the name Al Ansari to point out his ‘holy host’ reputation.

He had a house of two floors. He prepared the upper floor for his beloved guest. But the Prophet of Modesty preferred to stay at the bottom floor. Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) and his wife obeyed The Last Prophet Mohammad (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him)’s wish as an order but they felt so uneasy to be upstairs above Him. They both felt as if they were in a disrespecting position towards their Holy Guest. It was a very old house and dusts were coming down from the ceiling downstairs each time anybody walks on the creaking floor upstairs, also rackets could be easily heard. Therefore they tried to be extremely careful and almost stopped moving around in order not to disturb their Holy Guest and His household downstairs. Next morning Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) made an offer to his Holy Guest to move to the upper flat.  But again He refused him on the basis that He was having many visitors every day and the flat downstairs was more comfortable for Him to meet His people. Few days later Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) has made another attempt to renew his offer. The Holy Guest has accepted this time the offer to comfort him and finally moved upstairs where He stayed about seven months until His own house and Mosque have been built.

                               The Mosque of the Last Prophet of Allah built in Madina

The Last Prophet Mohammad (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) has always been grateful to Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) for all his services and hosting in his house. He always appreciated him and remembered him for his goodness. The Last Prophet Mohammad (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) used to visit sometimes Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) along with some of His companions and they were always kindly treated by him as guests. Therefore Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) took the reputation of the Host of the Prophet of Allah (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him).  Here is another example showing his kindness to the Last Prophet of Allah (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) and His companions. In the years of starvation where it was very hard to find food for the muslims since the unbelievers were boycotting them, the Last Prophet of Allah (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) couldn’t get to sleep one night because of his hunger. He had nothing to eat in his own house. He went out and walked for a while thinking that may be this might help him to forget about his hunger. Then he met His best friend Abu Bakr (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him). He asked him why he was out at this late hour of the night. Abu Bakr (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) said that he was hungry too and he could not find anything to eat in his house. They both walked for a while until they met Omar(radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) who was also out for the same reason. The Last Prophet of Allah (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) took them along and they went together to the house of Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him). He welcomed them very well and warmly, set a table for them where he served them dried meat and fresh dates, water and bread. The Last Messenger of Allah (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) said:

 We will be asked for all these foods on the day of judgement”.
The companions then hesitated to begin eating. The Last Messenger of Allah (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) continued:

Unless we say Bismillahirrahmanirrahim (which means I begin in the name of Allah the Merciful, the Compassionate) before starting to eat and thank Allah for the meal.

Allah (the Merciful, the Compassionate) has sent many Prophets and Messengers to humankind. Beginning with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ismael, Isac, Jacob, Joseph, David Solomon, Moses, Jesus (peace be upon them all) were only some of them among which Mohammad (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) is the Last one.

Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) was always with the Prophet of Islam from whom He never separated until His death. He has always been at His service during His life with the highest loyalty to take on the hard mission of guarding Him personally in times of wars. He participated numerous battles such as the battle of Badr, the battle of Uhud and the battle of Trench as known in the history of Islam. He was also in the conquest of Khayber, Mecca and Taif (some cities in Arabia). He was the flagbearer of the Prophet.

                                                 The minarets point out to unity of Allah

Struggling in the way of Allah for spreading İslam

After The Last Messenger of Allah (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) passed away Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) continued enthousastically to spread the Message of Islam. He participated many expeditions in times of the first khalif (leader of muslims) Abu Bakr (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) and the second khalif Omar(radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him).  Abu Bakr (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) was chosen to be the first khalif, i.e the leader of muslims, following the death of the Last Messenger of Allah (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him), to deal with the affairs of the muslims in this world. He was a firm believer in Allah (Teala; Almighty) and His Last Messenger(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him). He was the first man to believe in Him and he always supported Him from the very beginning even in the most difficult times. One of the events which was hard to believe for human minds was when the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) said that e<heHe had made a night journey to Jerusalem and from there He was taken up to the Heavens bodily and spiritually both. This miraculous journey which happenned at the Night of Power, Laylatul Qadr so called by muslims relating to the Divine Power, has been a crutial test for he faith of many muslims that time and now.  When Abu Bakr (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) heard the news about Laylatul Qadr; the Night of Power, he didn’t hesitate a single moment to believe in them and confirmed them instantly. Actually he has always confirmed whatever he heard from the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him), thus justifying all His deeds, words and actions. Thus he deserved the reputation of being called Sıddıq; the confirmer by Allah.

The Qur’anic Scripture which was only preserved in memories and in some various forms of written text has ben combined and made into a Book in his time. He stayed in his office only for two years until death comes.

Then Omar(radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him), another blessed companion of the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him), followed him and took the office for about eleven years until he became shaheed; has been martyred in the cause of Allah. Omar(radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him), was a meticulous man striving for the establishment of Justice without any slightest compromise. In his time the Message of Islam has spread out to the farest lands such as North Africa and Persia extending the borders of muslim countries to its widest range. And the justice was practised everywhere even at the farest end. In those times Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) took part in the conquests of Damascus, Palestine and Egypt.

When Othman (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him),was chosen as the third khaliph among the companions, Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him)  joined the army which was set up for the conquest of Cyprus. Othman (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him), was a very shy and humble man with a soft heart. He was married to two daughters of the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him), one after the other; when the first daughter died, he married the other daughter so becoming twice the son in law to the Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him). He took the office for about twelve years until he became shaheed; has been martyred in the cause of Allah(teala; almighty). In his time the Holy Qur’an has been made a number of copies to be sent to far muslim lands.

Finally Ali(radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) the other son in law to the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) came to the power and became the fourth khaliph i.e. the leader of muslims. He was reputed to be the Lion of Allah for he was a very courageous and brave fighter. The Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) had given him His own sword which He had named as Zulfikar to go into the battle of Trench to fight against the unbelievers. Ali (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him)  who was also a very wise man took office for about five years until he became shaheed; has been martyred in the cause of Allah. Then disputes amoung the muslims have started about the leadership.

Ali (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him)  had deputed Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) in his place as the leader in Madina when he was going to Iraq. During his deputy Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) became once the Imam (leader in prayer) at the mosque of the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) to lead the prayer on his behalf.

The rightious khaliphs which were holding the office to run both the religious and state affairs concerning the muslims have ceased to follow in succeding years. Although the name for khaliph still remained, the administration has transformed into sultanate from thereon. Therefore the conflicts between the muslims have started immediately but Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) never took side and always called muslims for unity.

From his marriage to Ummu Eyyub he had three boys and one daughter. The eldest boy’s name was Eyyub, and others were called Khalid and Abdurrahman and the girl was called Amre.

                                      A man of heart is needed,

                                      to win the hearts of people surrounded by the forts of unbelief

A scholar and a narrator

He used to be one of the Scribes of Revelations in the first period of Islam where not many people knew how to read and write. He had deep knowledge in Islam since he was brought up within the study circle of the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him). Therefore he became a great scholar whose reference was highly seeked to benefit from his wisdom and knowledge. He passed on verdicts which were seriously complied in various matters. His narrations from the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) sums up to around two hundred. He also educated some of the well known companions in Islam such as Abdullah bin Abbas (the son of Prophet’s uncle Abbas), Abdullah bin Omar (the son of the 2nd khaliph Omar) and Enes bin Malik (radiallahuanhum; may Allah be pleased with them all).

                                                        The Eyub Sultan Mosque

From Madina to Konstantiniyye

Konstantiniyye was the name given to the city of İstanbul in that time. The Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) had said once:

 Definitely Konstantiniyye will be conquired one day. Such a nice commander is the one who conquiers it. And such a nice soldier is the one who is in its conquest.

This has motivated the muslims throughout ages to go ahead for the conquest of the city of Konstantiniyye to Islamic faith. Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) used to join the expeditions once in a year and encouraged others to do so. He was always striving to propagate the Message of Islam and to fight in the cause of Allah. Therefore in spite of his old age he joined the army which was set up for the besiege of Konstantiniyye which took place 49 years after the Immigration and thousand kilometers away from Madina. His age was that time over eighty and when he approached the outskirts of the city he could hardly ride on his horse since he fell seriously ill due to this long journey but yet has shown tremendous efforts in the besiege which ended unsuccessfully. He was about dying when he was asked if he had any will at his last moment to which he replied he wished to be burried at the nearest place by the forts where the muslims could reach. When he died his body was washed and prepared for the burial to the place which is now known as the tomb of Eyub Sultan. The night he was burried, the soldiers of the Konstantinos were watching of the sentry. They observed a burst of light coming from the grave and shot to the sky. They were frightened. Next day they started to tell about this event to the people. The news broke out all around the city about the burst of light from the grave of Eyub Sultan. The Emperor Konstantinos after whom the city took it’s name, heard about the news and interrogated his soldiers before he sent a messenger to the muslim army to investigate more.

The Muslim Commander informed him that one of the Last Prophet Mohammad(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him)’s stars (Companions) had died and was burried near the sentry according to his will. He also added that the night he was burried they have seen a burst of light coming from the grave and shot to the sky. After the withdrawal of the muslim army the Empreror has ordered a tomb to be built for Eyub Sultan and four candles to be burnt continously by his grave. Hence, the local people respected the personage in the grave as a Saint and made their prayers and wishes there even for the rainfall in times of drought. The people rushed to the grave for asking help from the Spirit of the Eyub Sultan whenever they faced troubles.

It was also believed by the people in those times that the holy spirit in the tomb had healing powers for some kind of illnesses.

Since then, the tomb has become a visiting place like today where prayers and wishes are being made to the Lord of the Worlds; Allah(Teala; Almighty) expecting that they will be accepted for the sake of the Saint in the tomb i.e. Eyub Sultan.

Behind the red curtains is the section where the sarcophagus is situated

The tomb of Eyub Sultan had lasted until the invasion of Konstantiniyye by Latins. They destroyed every where including the churches. Unfortunately the tomb has also been crushed down to the ground in that time. The place of the grave was lost for almost seven hundred years until the conquest of Konstantiniyye which is now called Istanbul.

How the grave was discovered

İn the spring of 1453, the Conqueror of Istanbul; Sultan Mohammad Fatih(the Conqueror) came to the fronts of the city for besieging it. He knew already that Eyub Sultan had come ages ago and was buried there. Soon after the conquest, Sultan Mohammad Fatih has requested his teacher Akshamseddeen who was one of the most prominent scholars of his time to discover the place of the grave. Akshamsaddeen was appointed for he education and bringing up of Sultan Mohammad Fatih when he was only a young boy. Therefore a strong relation was developped between him and his teacher whom he respected and loved so much.

The respected teacher reflected upon for a while, then he took his prayer mat demanding the people around to follow him. He said that wherever he lays down his prayer mat would be the place of the grave. He walked in the area for a while then he suddenly stopped at a particular point and laid down his prayer mat where he stood for prayer to perform two rekats (series of movements which form the particular parts of a muslim prayer). In this way he thanked to Allah(Teala; Almighty) for the inspiration he was granted about the place of the grave.  Two pine trees have then been planted at both sides of that point to mark the grave place. Some people, however, wanted to make mischief about the good relation between the Sultan and his beloved teacher and threw spills of doubts on the discovery of the grave place. Sultan wanted to clear the minds off the doubts and confirm his respected teacher’s discovery. And he has ordered for the pine trees to be removed one night in order to be replaced somewhere else in the direction of quibla;  the South east direction towards Kâbe in Mecca where muslims stand for five times a day to perform their ritual daily prayer. The Sultan has requested his respected teacher to come again to mark the place of the grave once more. The teacher as soon as he came he went straight to the previous point which he had already marked without noticing the pine trees being removed elsewhere. Then the place of the grave has been ordered to be digged out. When the job was done it was found a tablet on which the following was written in Arabic: ‘Here is the grave of Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him). In this way doubts have been cleared of minds.

The two pine trees which were planted that time had grown into two big trees throughout ages.  But onely one of them which is now in the middle of the the inner court has survived while the other has dried out and collapsed unfortunately.

                     The witness of those times

The tomb of Eyyub Sultan
Once the place of the grave was discovered, now it was time to build a tomb as a memorial for one of the most brillant ‘Stars’ of the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) as He called His Companions. Sultan Mohammad Fatih; The Conqueror, has ordered the constructions to begin immediately for the tomb and soon after it was finished, the first biggest Mosque of İstanbul had started to be built nearby.

The premises have been enlargened in later years by the annexetion of baths, a cook house and a madrasa i.e. a school for Islamic studies thus forming into a university campus of that time in İstanbul.

The Sultan Mohammad Fatih has also ordered a sponsoring foundation to be estanblished in order to meet the expenses of the premises around which, houses have started to be built according to the Islamic Turkish customs for the new settlers from Anatolia. That is how the district of Eyyub Sultan as known today has been established. The district has taken its name Eyyub Sultan after Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) and now has become a highly visited place by the whole world.

The tomb has been preserved in its original form until today. Its architect is not known. In the middle of the tomb inside there is a wooden chest representing Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him)’s grave.

The chest is covered with a black satin nicely decorated with samples of calligrapy. The grating of cast silver which is surrounding the chest and the door gate decorated with mother of pearl is at the entrance of the tomb.  It is a precious handcraft made by Ottoman Sultans who were showing a special care to the tomb out of their respect for the companions of the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem;peace be upon him).

                                                    His chest was full of love for The Messenger

Inside the tomb there is also a well and an undergound corridor which is known to be built to protect the grave from being flooded. There is an entrance to the corridor from the fountain outside near the tomb.

The water running from that fountain is believed to have healing effects.

                                                                    A fountain of love he was

The outer façade of the tomb is decorated with precious tiles brought there in later times in various occasions from the different cities of Turkey which are famous with their tiles. The calligraphic designs of high artistic standart are mostly the works of some Ottoman Sultans who were quite talented and assertive at this matter.

The most interesting part of the tomb, however, is the section where the Foot Print of the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) was preserved whitin a niche closed by a glass window. This was brought here from the Holy Relics section of the Topkapı Palace where the Sultans used to reside in earlier times of the Ottoman State.

                                                          Always in His footsteps

In various times annextions and reconstructions have been made to the tomb such as the gate window by the tomb entrance. People have a quick minute to stand there and make their wishes to Allah believing that it would be accepted for the sake of the Blessed Companion who was burried there.

A location where the Sultans get their reputation to rule

The tomb of Abu Eyyub Al Ansari (radiallahuanhu; may Allah be pleased with him) has also been a remarquable location throughout ages for the ceremony of girding the Sultans with their sword as the transfer of the legacy to the throne.  It was first Sultan Mohammad Fatih; the Conqueror who initiated the tradition of ceremonial girding of the sword. His beloved and respected teacher Akshamsaddeen tied the sword around the waist of his student; Sultan Mohammad Fatih; when he was entitled to sit on the throne. Since then this ceremony has become a tradition folllowed by all the subsequent Ottoman Sultans until the last one.  The sword used in the girding ceremony was selected each time from the set of the swords belonging to the Blessed Companions of the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him). Those swords are now presented in the Holy Relics section of the Topkapı Palace.

The Mosque of Eyyub Sultan
Sultan Mohammad Fatih;   the Conqueror has inaugurated the Mosque of Eyyub Sultan in 1458 five years later the tomb was built.

                          The tomb of Eyub Sultan

The original buildings which were made in his time have been damaged throughout ages by earthquakes or various disasters. Only the baths and the tomb have remained in its original form. The Mosque was rebuilt after the earthquakes and some rooms were annexed to it such as ladies courtyard and fountain for ritual ablutions inside it, special rooms for the take carerers of the tomb and the Mosque and a room for the leader in prayer. In later years the number of balconies on the minarets have been doubled in order to fixe in between them the illuminated texts which were lighted up at night in Ramadan (the Holy Month in muslim calander where muslim perform fasting). The illuminated texts were showing some chosen verses from the Qur’an or from the sayings of the Last Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him).

Some notice about visiting the mosques or tombs

First of all one should bear in mind that these places are considered as sacred for muslims and should be respected according to Islamic tradition. The shoes are taken off when entering those places. Also a modest way of dressing is required from both men and women. A special request from the women visitors is to cover properly their hair with a scarf and not a hat. The behaviour which suits best while visiting these kind of holy places would be rather a silent observance of the area with peaceful movements and without disturbing the people who are there to perform their prayers. Allah has revealed to the Last Messenger of Allah (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him)

Oh Brother of prophets! Brother of warners! Warn your people; that they should enter my (holy) places only with pure hearts, faithful tongues and clean hands and bodies. They should not enter my places while violating the rights of others. As long as they keep violating others’ rights no matter how much they keep on worshiping me I will keep them away from my mercy. If they do what they are told, I will be their hearing ears and seeing eyes. They will be of my pious servants and saints. They will be along with prophets and martyrs (killed for the cause of Allah) and the most faithful ones in the Paradise near to me.”

Another important warning is that the personage who is burried there is not considered by muslims as someone having super powers such as healing people or giving them their wishes or someone sharing powers with Allah (Teala; The Almighty). It is restrictly forbidden in Islam to associate partners with Allah(Teala; The Almighty). This is the most gravious sin in the sight of Allah(Teala; The Almighty) who has no partner in His authority; He is unique. In the Quran Allah describes Himself (Chpt.112);

         Say;  ‘He is Allah, the One!    Allah, the eternally Besought of all!    He begetteth not nor was begotten. And there is none comparable unto Him.’

In muslim world all the Prophets and their Disciples or their Companions are very much respected as well as the Scholars or the Blessed Men of Allah (Teala; The Almighty)i.e. Saints.  And sometimes muslims go to visit their tombs to show their respect and recite there the verses from the Holy Qur’an since according to Islam spirit never dies and it enjoys the recitations from the Holy Qur’an.

The muslims can make their wishes while they are visiting those places and ask from Allah(Teala; The Almighty) for anything they want. It is believed that any wish made at the presence of a Saint is more likely to be accepted by Allah(Teala; The Almighty) since those saints are much loved by Allah(Teala; The Almighty) and their sake is much preserved by Him. Therefore sincere muslims having great respect for he beloved ones of Allah(Teala; The Almighty) would take it seriously any kind of insult committed against them. Nobody can tolerate any offense to the Holy Prophets including Moses(aleyhisselam; peace be upon him) and Jesus(aleyhisselam; peace be upon him) by mere excuses of freedom of speech.

On the other hand if we look at from a basic point of view, it would be very unjust to attack the high reputation of those personages by making their funny caricatures since they have passed away ages ago and they have no means anymore to defend themselves. Some people in this world have believed in the holiness of those personages and nobody has right to despise them for this belief. This is violating the very basic humant right; the belief. Any sincere human rights’ defender will consider untolerable this disguised attack against those people’s belief under the excuse of freedom of speech.

Here are some of the narrations of Abu Eyyub Al Ansari from the Last Prophet Mohammad; The Last Messenger of Allah (sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him)

1.     Whoever turns away from my Sunna (my path) is not from us.

The Sunna is the sayings and doings of the Messenger of Allah(sallallahualeyhivesellem; peace be upon him) which form the basis for the Islamic Law.

2.     Whoever takes ablution as he is commanded and prays as he is commanded will be forgiven all his small sins he committed in the past.

3.     Oh muslims! Let one of you wash himself when coming to the Friday (congregational) prayer. İf he finds nice perfume let him to put on him. İf not, doesn’t matter. But definitely brush your teeth.

             OH PEOPLE OF THE BOOK

Please come to this agreement. If you are willing to enter the endless bliss after death you need to believe and accept that the Creator of all the worlds is Allah only and He has no partners nor son. He is unique in His Supreme Authority. He has ultimate power over all things and phenomena; He is Omnipotent.  The message in all the revelations sent by Him through His Messengers points out the same direction;

 THERE İS NO GOD  BUT HİM

And He names Himself as;

ALLAH

in all the past Reveletions including the last one;

                                             AL QUR'AN

which is the last reveeled Bible by Him.

From Adam(aleyhisselam)  to Noah(aleyhisselam)  and from Abraham(aleyhisselam)  to Moses(aleyhisselam) and Jesus(aleyhisselam), they all repeated that same message to the mankind. And finally Mohammad (sallallahualeyhivesellem) is the last of the Messengers.

So do not expect another Messenger to come and to tell you that God is One. The endless repetition of a message is not necessary for a wise man.
